Martin Gruber is an acting teacher, director and choreographer. Since 2010 he has held a professorship for movement at the Hochschule für Schauspielkunst “Ernst-Busch” in Berlin. He is internationally active as a movement and acting teacher, gives lectures worldwide and has published numerous articles on his pedagogical work.

He learned Functional Integration® with Prof. Alon Talmi (Israel), completed several training courses in Zen Bodytherapy® and Zen Triggerpoint Anatomy® with William S. Leigh (USA) and learned Japanese forms of osteopathy with Nobuyuki Watanabe (Japan). Martin Gruber has been leading training courses in the Talmi Methode® developed by him for ten years.

Since 1970 he has been trained in various Asian martial arts (Judo, Aikido, Iaido, Hojo). He learned Aikido with Sensei Nobuyuki Watanabe (8th Dan, Japan), in 2007 he received the 6th Dan.

His own directorial projects include world premieres and experimental plays in Salzburg, Munich, Beijing (PR China), Hanoi and Festival Hue (SR Vietnam). He has worked as a choreographer for theatre and opera with Dieter Dorn for many years, but has also designed choreographies for Joachim Meyerhoff, Otto Kukla and Robert Schuster for productions at the Staatsoper Berlin, the Maxim-Gorki-Theater Berlin, Theater am Neumarkt Zurich (Switzerland), Opera Festival Munich, DNT Weimar, Osterfestspiele Baden-Baden.
